Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if a spa is a good fit for my practice?
The big consideration here isn’t whether it fits into your practice, but rather what is the need in your community. Remember, this is going to be a separate business that is running without requiring you physically be there (passive income!)
By assumption (and by our design!) a Nail Spa that shares an office with a private practice is going to be seen as a more sterile, safer option for clients. This is what you are advertising- a safer option for clients concerned about nail fungus, infections and who want a personalized experience.
Most of the Spa clients we have are not even patients of the practice. But the fact that there is a podiatrist they could see if they needed lends peace of mind to these clients.
Currently, our spa is booked out almost 8 weeks with less than 30% of the clients being from my practice.
I don’t know where to even start with setting up a Nail Spa
Neither did I. Being a complete novice to the field of aesthetics and spas, it took me nearly 3 years to develop the spa’s plan and execute the opening effectively. However, from there it only took 3 months for the spa to be profitable and 9 months to reimburse me for all start-up costs. Now, 3 years later the spa is outgrowing its space!
That’s what this course is for- to give you the tools and process so you don’t have to know where to start. We will go through it together with the entire class together, supporting each other the whole way!
Running a practice takes a lot of my time, I’m not sure I can handle starting another business!
I completely GET THIS! I’ve been running my practice for the past 9 years and if there’s one thing I’ve learned, its Systems Development! The more time you spend up front planning a new business to run WITHOUT you, the more passive this income becomes and the less dependent on your effort input it is.
This course will help you set this up from the very beginning in a way that requires no more than a few hours a month from you. We go through your set up ideas, evaluate the budget you have and develop your processes from there. A Nail Spa can be done on almost any scale and can be customized for any space or time available.
How do I train and hire a nail tech? I don’t know the first thing about Pedicure training!
Just like other specialists, certified nail technicians have specific training they are required to go through for their certification. As the business owner, you do not need to specifically train these employees to do pedicure or manicure services. That being said, the course does provide you with guidance on how to hire the right employee for your spa and some service tips and tricks from my nail tech to yours
Is starting a Nail Spa expensive?
Nail Spas can be as simple or as complex as you want, thus as cheap or expensive as you want. Keep in mind that the nicer your facility is (massage spa chairs, etc), the higher price you can command for your services. Our facility was set up on the higher end by choice and start up was about 10k (which was paid back within 9 months). However, you can also decide to just have a simple set up for very minimal startup costs as well. This course will help you not only choose the path and budget that’s right for you but will help you plan accordingly.
How long will it take to get my Nail Spa open?
Usually, the formation of LLC and licensing take the longest. As does hiring the right person for your spa (and ordering spa chairs if you choose to do so). That’s why we start with these items in the course. However, once those items are complete, the rest of the process usually takes just a month or two to get operational.
